We started our hike at 7 pm hoping to get up there before sunset. I carried 15 kg pack on my back, carrying 2 tripods, 2 cameras, 4 lenses and other essentials. I didn't want to miss out! The weather forecast was telling me that it suppose to clear by 11 pm but as I stand, there was too many clouds. I waited patiently and finally the clouds started to clear up. As the day get darker, I glimpse across one of my camera that shooting continuous timelapse. I saw a green band across the LCD and I was like.... is it? is that? it can't be! I had another good look and there she is. I started doing my happy dance and about 1 hour later as the day gets darker I was able to put the milkyway, the aurora and the comet in one photo. This was the best night of my life and it's all thanks to photography, without it I will be sleeping in my warm bed not knowing what I've missed! Once in a lifetime This year had been interesting, it all started well with a great snow season. Then one day everything stops, all the ski resort closed down, we couldn't even go out doing backcountry skiing. Our employment was ended and we are bound by our walls. To make things worse I had a big accident where I flipped and totalled my car. All of this in a course of 1 week. But then something happened, a one of a kind, a once in a lifetime phenomena. Comet Neowise. I went the first night, hiked up to the top of the mountain. We stayed up the whole night and although I captured an amazing sunrise, the night were cloudy. When my employment ended I had a set of time where I could stay in Lake Louise and time is running out. I saw a window where there is a chance of clear sky at midnight. It's now or never! We left the house at 2 pm, drove to the trailhead and got up there by 9 just before sunset. I was nervous because there were so many clouds, but I had faith in the forecast. As the day get darker, I saw this green band on the lower part of the camera. I couldn't believe it! I had a second look and I was intrigued! I know it was going to be the night of my life! I started the happy dance and shoot through out the night. We finally made it back to the car just before sunrise. It all felt like a dream that I couldn't fall asleep until 3 pm that day.
